Mavuto Kapyepye is an international consultant in Organisation Development (OD) and Social Studies with special interests in leadership and knowledge management systems particularly indigenous knowledge. He is also an author, motivational speaker, coach and an entrepreneur based in Blantyre Malawi. He runs business enterprises including Mlambe Consulting Firm and Muhinje Herbal Farms.
Mavuto Kapyepye graduated with a Master of Commerce in Strategy & Organisational Dynamics from the Graduate School of Business and Leadership (GBSL) at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal (UKZN), South Africa in 2009. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Malawi at Bunda College (now Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources) acquired in 1995. He has attended several specialised courses in his career and these include Gender Skills by AWARD in 2016; Resource Mobilisation by Media for Development in 2003; Facilitating Organisation Development by EASUN/CDRA in 2000; Strategic planning and Team Building by INTRAC in 1999; Consultant Development Programme by Reddy.Philips and GTZ in 1999; Facilitation Skills by Reddy.Philips and GTZ in 1998, by Olive OD&T in 1999 and AWARD in 2015 & 2016.
He began his professional career in 1995 with a brief stint as a Science Teacher in Malawi before joining the Wildlife and Environment Society of Malawi (WESM) as Head of Environment Education and Communication Programme in 1996 for close to three years. He later joined the Capacity Building Unit for Non-Governmental Organisations (CABUNGO), a Malawian NGO, where he worked as an Organisation Development (OD) Practitioner facilitating interventions in the Malawian NGO sector. In 2000 he became Country Manager in Malawi for the Media for Development (UK) and was responsible for Development Broadcasting Unit (DBU) [now Development Communication Trust – DCT]. In 2004 Mavuto Kapyepye joined the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) Africa regional office based in Johannesburg then as Regional New Technologies Officer and was responsible for coordinating and supporting the technological upgrades for community radio stations in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He became a fulltime entrepreneur in 2005 as the founder and CEO MCF. Mavuto Kapyepye has facilitated over sixty (60) workshops since 1999 and has conducted numerous livelihoods research assignments in rural communities on the African continent.
Oscar Matope works as an associate consultant at MCF and has over twelve years’ experience as a Land Economist. He has previously held very senior positions in Malawi Government’s Ministry of lands where he worked for several years as Regional Commissioner for Lands and later as Deputy Commissioner for lands. Oscar has been involved in property valuations for various purposes including compensation purposes, preparation of Resettlement Policy Frameworks (RPFs), Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs), review of land laws and policies, and resolving land disputes. He was involved in the preparation of the Malawi National Land Policy implementation strategy and review of land related laws and draft land Bills for parliament deliberation. Oscar has also handled major RAPs for major road projects and other infrastructure projects in Malawi. He holds a Masters Degree in Property Studies from University of Queensland, Australia and Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from University of Malawi. He holds several certificates including International certificate in Land Policy for Sustainable Rural Development in Taiwan and IT in Real Estate Business in Malaysia. He is a registered valuation surveyor with Surveyors Institute of Malawi (SIM) and third level with Royal Institute of Charted Surveyors (RICS).
Limbani has over five years of experience working in both the private and public sectors and holds the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Skills Module.
